Stressed Out? 4 Things That Help Me Stress Less

  • When life gets stressful try these four simple things that helped me and my stressed out clients relax this week.

The past two weeks I have been stressed out and overwhelmed.  Writing late into the night, daunting deadlines, keeping up my normal work schedule,  all while attempting to take care of my body and mind has proven to be a bit difficult. It can be so hard to take care of yourself when you have deadlines, finals, work or school projects, or just a change in routine. It may sound like a lovely idea to pack your bag the night before or even your lunch, but lets be honest, that isn’t even possible these days (at least not for me).  I wouldn’t say I am an expert in prioritizing, or even time management but I have learned there are some things that can really help your stressed out self relax.

4 Ways To Get Less Stressed Out Right Now!

1) Miracles Now!  This book my home-girl Gabrielle Bernstein’s new book Miracles Now: 108 Life-Changing Tools for Less Stress, More Flow, and Finding Your True Purpose. Like go get it now. Right now.  I am a huge devotee of her work, but when life gets crazy my practice seems to get pushed to the bottom of my to-do list. This book makes it easy with 108 mediation and tools to use that take minutes. Each day I just focus on one, and it totally boost my mood. My clients call it “The Magic Book” When they are in the midst of a “WTF moment” or a challenge I asked them to open to any page of the book.  Every single time, I’m not joking, its something that they have found to be the perfect advice or tool for their current situation.  Get the “Magic Book” ASAP.

2) Yoga in Your Living Room. I am the worst at doing in-home workouts, but this week I just couldn’t make it to my regular workout sessions. The problem is, without my workout therapy, I feel more stressed. So I tried something new, and surprisingly it worked. Hulu has a ton of yoga videos, from Flow to 15 minute quickies. I tried a few and I swear I was more sore and less stressed than heading to my normal studio. On demand has quite a few as well as the Nike Training App (the free version).

Stop being Stressed Out - OMG! Juice

3) OMG My Favorite Juice! Seriously that’s what its called.  Juice Press here in NYC makes it easy to get my vitamins and nutrients when I am on the go. This green juice is also a pre-biotic for probiotics. It’s also different than regular juices, because it doesn’t spike your blood sugar. You know the mid-day lull that makes your reach for a cookie-that’s your low blood sugar talking. This kind of juice does not spike sugars the way refined sugars do so its an awesome way to recharge without feeling a high or a low afterwards. Oh yeah, it taste good too!

4) Sleep with some help. It’s so hard to shut off the noise in my mind, even after 12-15 hour work days my brain sometimes wants to keep working. Many of my clients find it hard to turn down the sound of their thoughts when they hit the pillow.  I started listening to guided sleep meditations and hypnosis videos after trying just about everything else with no avail. As crazy as it sounds, it works. Just find the right one for you, depending on the voice of the person and their content.  Just search YouTube. Here is one of my favorites, by Jody Whiteley. I never get through the whole thing, by about 10 minutes I’m off in dreamland.
